Pocket trumpets are the smaller and more compact version of the standard trumpet. The concept of reducing the size of trumpets was modelled after the pocket cornets which were constructed during the 19th century. However those model cornets have poor intonation and reduced dynamic and timbral range. But by 1968, the Benge trumpet company following the design of master trumpeter Loius Duda, was able to produce pocket trumpets with improved intonation and dynamic range with the likeness of the standard trumpet. Since then, it has been set as the standard by which other pocket trumpets are judged.
